The Protocol
How the ProGen
Method works
A clinically structured 4-phase programme designed around your metabolism, not a generic diet plan.
Phase 01Week 1
Clinical Assessment
- →Full blood panel — thyroid, insulin resistance, lipid profile, HbA1c
- →Body composition scan — fat mass vs lean mass baseline
- →Goal-setting consultation with ProGen physician
- →Contraindication screening — who should not do VLCKD
- →Personalised calorie and macro targets calculated
Phase 02Weeks 2–10
Active Ketogenic Phase
- →Very low-calorie ketogenic diet: 600–800 kcal/day, 70–80g protein
- →ProGen protein supplements replace 2–3 meals daily
- →Ketosis achieved within 3–5 days — fat burning state maintained
- →Weekly biometric check-ins: weight, ketone levels, blood pressure
- →Prescription adjustments every 2 weeks based on blood markers
- →WhatsApp access to care team for daily questions
Phase 03Weeks 11–14
Reintroduction
- →Structured food reintroduction — one food group per week
- →Calorie increase: 800 → 1,200 → 1,600 kcal over 4 weeks
- →Monitoring for rebound weight — common in unstructured exits
- →Gut microbiome support protocol
- →Exercise introduction — resistance training to protect muscle
Phase 04Month 4 onwards
Maintenance
- →Mediterranean-style diet at maintenance calories
- →Monthly check-in calls for 6 months post-programme
- →Body composition monitoring — muscle vs fat tracking
- →80% of ProGen patients maintain results at 6-month follow-up
- →Alumni community access for ongoing accountability
The Science
Why VLCKD works when other diets don't
Standard caloric restriction causes the body to burn both fat and muscle. VLCKD with adequate protein preserves lean mass while forcing the body into ketosis — a metabolic state where fat becomes the primary fuel source.
The result: patients lose predominantly fat, not muscle — which means the weight stays off. Muscle tissue is metabolically active; preserving it keeps resting metabolism elevated post-programme.
